The three (maps) were done on the occasion of two requests from mercedes (entrustment) so perhaps we are talking about a particular subgroup within the maps of colonial era against others of the geographical relations. The documents analyzed were created between the late 16th century and early 17th century because the viceroys wanted to collect the maximum of information before granting a land grant"--
