Collection of essays on Haitian society and economy originally published in 1915 by Frederic Marcelin (1848-1917), a Haitian writer and politician. He was Chief of the Haitian Department of Finance from 1892-1894 under President Hippolyte and again 1905-1908 in the administration of President Nord Alexis. In 1905, Marcelin established the journal Haïti littéraire et sociale. He is also known for his fiction works including Marilisse (1903), La Vengeance de Mama (1902), and Thémistocle Epaminondas Labasterre (1901). This volume also includes a biography of Marcelin.
