Edition Notes
"The key pages contain the objects, figures, and parts of figures, belonging to the blanks left in the picture-book. The objects ... are all numbered according to the pages to which they belong ... They must be cut out neatly and very exactly, and stuck on with gum in the blanks which they fit. The book will then be complete."--How to use this picture-book, first leaf of text.
Title, series and imprint statement transcribed from page [1] of printed wrapper. Series transposed from head of wrapper in transcription.
First leaf of printed text followed by [6] leaves of plates printed in color by what appears to be a chromolithographic process. Plates feature human figures pasted in by the process described above. Plates were probably printed by Joseph Martin Kronheim; he is credited with printing the plates for Warne's picture puzzle toy book (ca. 1875), a compilation of several picture stories featuring pasted paper cut outs, including Holiday fun.
Wrapper printed in colored ink.
"London:--Frederick Warne & Co., Bedford Street, Strand."--Publisher's advertisement, page [4] of wrapper. Includes ads for Warne's excelsior toy-books, Aunt Louisa's London toy-books, and Aunt Louisa's magic modeller.
Reproduction of the original from the Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature, George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida.
