"This is a fascinating study if an Islamic scholar and Sufi master - Shaykh Yūsuf - from present-day Indonesia who, after having studied and taught the Islamic Sciences in Indonesia, Yemen, Arabia and Syria conducted warfare against the Dutch colonialists in the late 17th century. Subsequent to his capture by the Dutch, he was exiled to Ceylon then to the Cape in 1694. He died in 1699 and was buried at Faure not too distant from Stellenbosch. Shaykh Yūsuf is known as the pioneer of Islam in South Africa as well as "the man with two graves" because, apart from his shrine in Faure, another is located at Lakiung on the Island of Sulawesi. His tracts on Sufism which attracted a great deal of attention in recent years are currently being studied by scholars, some which have been published both in Indonesia and South Africa." --
