Pierre Duprat, a French photographer, arrives in Paraguay in the winter of 1869 to portray the beautiful young women of the Guarani tribe. But during his journey, he encounters one of the cruelest battles in history: the Battle of Acosta Ñu. It is the end of the War of the Triple Alliance, which pits Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina against Paraguay. There are no adult men alive in Paraguay, but Marshal Francisco Solano López is not willing to surrender. Determined, he creates an army of children to try to stop the enemy troops.
