Contains Allen's report only. Schoolcraft's account of the expedition, including his official reports, was published in New York, 1834, under the title: Narrative of an expedition through the upper Mississippi to Itasca Lake.

Allen's report, dated Fort Dearborn, November 25, 1833, begins on page 2.
