Reprint of an article published in the journal, "American review of reviews" in August 1927. The Public Relations Division of the American Petroleum Institute deemed it "representative of the best interests of the industry in its present phase" and, that circulation of this article would "better the public understanding of the industry and ameliorate some of the tendencies to criticism which have been obvious, by reason of inadequate information, in the past." The Institute arranged for bulk printing of the article in pamphlet form in order to distribute it to a wide audience.
