"Charles Fergus Binns was born in England and trained at the Royal Worcester Porcelain Works. Soon after he moved to the United States and worked briefly at what is now Lenox China, he became founding director of the New York State School of Clay-Working and Ceramics in Alfred, New York, one of the first schools that provided training in both art and technology.".

"This volume is published in conjunction with an exhibition of Binns's finest ceramic vases and bowls celebrating the one-hundredth anniversary of what is now called the New York State College of Ceramics, followed by a national tour. It reproduces seventy-two of Binns's masterworks in full color and documents all his known works in a comprehensive catalogue raisonne."--BOOK JACKET.
