Contributors from a wide range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary backgrounds were asked by the editors of this volume to explore what we hope will prove to be a unique and productive means for addressing issues of urbanism, globalization, postcolonialism, historicity, and space, as well as the roles that cities in Southeast Asia play in (or are elided from) knowledge production about and legitimization of these phenomena.
