"The project would involve demolition of all structures on the site, that is, the building complex consisting of Bank Of America offices with its clock tower and garage. This building complex (with its garage and clock tower), was formerly the Union Oil Company Building. The office building of the complex is a Moderne building designed by Lewis Hobart and built in 1941. In the 1950s, the building was enlarged and subsequently altered, including the construction of the parking garage and construction of the current clock tower replacing the original rectangular clock tower."--p. 44.
