Edition Notes

Cover title.

"September 2004."

The New Jersey Zinc company began operation in 1903 on what would become the New Jersey Zinc/Mobil Chemical Superfund site in DePue (Bureau Co.), Illinois. This site was composed of the original smelter that produced slab zinc to be used in automobile and appliance industries and sulfuric acid. In 1990, the facility ceased operations and site structures were demolished. From 1966 to 1992, a diammonuim phosphate (DAP) fertilizer plant operated on the property.
