A patent by the same men was published in 1855 under the same number, dated the same year with the title of: Specification of Robert Cross and Thomas Southworth : constructing and heating boilers.

"Robert Cross, of Quaker's Brook, within Hoghton, in the county of Lancaster, tanner, and Thomas Southworth, of Hoghton aforesaid, cotton manufacturer".
