"Monday, January 17 ... The House ... resolved itself into a committee of the whole House, on the report of the committee to whom were referred the memorials of the people called Quakers ..."--Journal of the first session of the third Congress (Philadelphia, 1793 [i.e., 1794]), p. 131-132.

An act to prohibit the carrying on the slave-trade from the United States passed the House of Representatives on March 7, 1794, and was enacted into law on March 22; cf. Evans 27839.

Francis Childs and John Swaine were printers to the Congress in 1794.

Recorded twice by Evans, the first entry under the heading "Abolition Societies in the United States," and suggesting Zachariah Poulson as printer.
