Excerpts

From one of the great canons that take their origin near the Eastern limit of Arizona, and extend Westward through the intervening ranges of the Rocky Mountains into the great unexplored canon of the Colorado, Barbon-ce-to, the head chief of the Navajos, had sent out his runners to the chiefs and the principal men of the several clans of the nation, inviting them to meet him in council.
