Photographs of the proofs of p. 283-[284] and of the blank envelope of J.J. Little & Co., which held the proofs. Page 283 is in BAL 3415's 2nd state, characterized by a defaced and ribald engraving. The envelope, labeled in ms., reads: 30,000 copies of this book was [sic] printed before the defect was discovered.
