For the first time in Chile, a program for young architects is being developed. This initiative, based on the Young Architects Program (YAP) is an annual series of competitions that gives emerging architects the opportunity to design and present creative projects, challenging each years winners to develop highly innovative designs for a temporary outdoor installation that provides shade, seating, and water. The architects must also work within guidelines that address environmental issues, including sustainability and recycling. In 2011, during the 12th edition of the Young Architects Program, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and MoMA PS1 of New York partnered with CONSTRUCTO of Chile and with MAXXI (Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo) in Rome. The present catalogue features the proposals from the finalists of the last three of the program in Chile (YAP CONSTRUCTO).
