First Sentence

"The co-author of this book in Oriya is Sudam Naik. It is a brilliant book both from the point of view of Oriya literature and history of Oriya literature. The period of one hundred years from the mid 19th century to mid 20th century is considered to be the "Subarna-Juga" i.e. the 'Golden Period' of Oriya literature in Sonepur Raj Darbar. Earlier, Oriya literature has received royal patronage from various kings and feudal chiefs of Orissa. Sonepur Raj Darbar was such a benevolent patron. In this book the authors have carefully studied and narrated the development and production of Oriya literature particularly in Sonepur under the royal patronage of four Sonepur Maharajas namely Niladri Singhdev (1841-1891), Prataprudra Singhdev (1891-1902), Biramitrodaya Singhdev (1902-1937) and Sudhansu Sekhar Singhdev (1937-1947)."
