Edition Notes
On t.p., following the title: Henr. Steph. lectori: Dum meam totius iuris ciuilis editionem expectas ... nouum hunc libellum velut editionis illius arrham praemitto.
Both parts (after Estienne's preface) consist primarily of thematically selected statements from the Pentateuch and from Roman jurists, accompanied in the 1st pt., apparently compiled by Estienne himself, by his notes; this first part (p. 1-96), is captioned and has running title Iuris civilis fontes et rivi.
The 2nd pt. (p. [1]-63) is an anonymous work dating from ca. 400 A.D.; it is introduced by half t.p.: "Ex Papin., Pauli, Ulp., Caii, Modest. integris libris, aliorúmque veterum iuris auctorum, Collatio legum Mosaycarum & Romanarum, ante Iustiniani Imp. aetatem inde sumpta."
Device of Henri Estienne on t.p. (old man under a tree with scroll "Noli altum sapere")
Signatures: [par.]⁸ 2[par.]⁸ A-F⁸ ²A-D⁸.
