Decorated initial letter illuminated in green and purple.
At head of text: The poetic composition here reproduced was picked up by A.P. Green of Auburn, Ind., in Corinth, Miss., on May 30, 1862, when the Union Army occupied that city following its evacuation by Confederate troops. It was printed on an excellent quality of satin, and dated July 4, 1823. The author of this poem remains unknown.
