Organized business, economic change, and democracy in Latin America

Sweeping changes in many Latin American nations have transformed business elites into key political and economic players. While organized business has become increasingly visible in the past decade, its role has been understudied. This volume analyzes the extent to which economic and political changes have convinced business elites to strengthen their employer associations and to use them - instead of less institutionalized means - to influence the economic policy-making process.

Also explored are the implications of these changes for the consolidation of democracy.
