A translation by Martin Everaert from the French ed. of Pedro de Medina's Arte de navegar, first published in Valladolid, in 1545.

Bound with, as issued, with a separate t.p.: Nieuwe onderwijsinghe op de principaelste puncten der zee-vaert: Inhoudende diuersche nootelijcke regulen, constighe practijcken, ende sonderlighe bequame instrumenten, die alle piloten, stierlieden, ende andere, die daghelijcx de zee hanteren, vastelijck en behooren te verstaen ... Nu nieuwelijcken eerst (wt de conste van mathematica) ghepractiseert, ende by een vergadert, deur Michiel Coignet. T'Hantwerpen, By Heyndrick Heyndricksen, Anno 1580.

Title in black letter and roman type, text in black letter type, running titles, section headings, side notes, and illustration subscripts in roman type.

Woodcut title vignette of ships at sea, repeated on leaf 9; numerous woodcut diagrams, tables and ill. in text, decorative initials. Volvelles in Coignet's Nieuwe Onderwijsinghe on leaves 9 recto, 10 and 17 verso, 23 recto.

List of contents, leaves &ij, 3, and [4], at end of first work has license: Hanc Petri Medinae nauigandi artem, uidit, legit & admisit D. Henricus Dunghen, S.T.D. & Canonicus Antwerp. 26. Martij. 1579.
