Over a rugged pass that shut off Shadrock, Wyoming from the rest of the world came Brad Hunter driving his Tall T trail herd, explaining to those curious enough to ask that he was pushing his herd to Ellsworth, Kansas by way of Wyoming. The Texans who followed him up the trail waited impatiently for him to take up the feud that had hung over him like a dark cloud. He didn't seem to be in a hurry, and waited patiently until others moved. But then a series of events changed everything. Newt Norton took to the warpath; Ed Martin went into full flight; and the Sloping S ranch disintegrated. Only then did Brad take the lead. But what he learned was that the hate in his heart was never his own--and the trail of his life led back to Texas.
