The BLM is a recognized leader in applying technology to manage both land information and resources and is taking steps to automate all of its records. The agencys philosophy is that management of land information for legally identified and surveyed lots, or parcels, is critical to the decision making that strikes the appropriate balance between the needs of today and tomorrow. The Bureaus automation vision is to make parcel-based land information available for managers, specialists, and the public in an organized, automated system. A fast, easy, user-friendly automated public land information system will provide the BLM with a better tool for efficient multiple-use management of the public lands.
