Edition Notes
Detached from The Mirror, vol. 29, no. 6, February 1909.
With: From paper by Major William H. Lambert on "The Gettysburg address: when written, how received, its true form."
William H. Lambert was a U.S. officer in the Civil War, and later a businessman and philanthropist in Philadelphia (Pa.). He was a collector of Thackeray books and Lincolniana. In the autumn of 1907 forty admirers of Abraham Lincoln met together at the Fifth Avenue Hotel, New York, and organized a society to be known as The Lincoln Fellowship. The membership consisted chiefly of collectors of Lincolniana, and Major William H. Lambert, of Philadelphia, was elected first president of the new association.
