May discusses the advertisement for Thomas Sparrow. He consoles Webb on the death of his wife. May informs Webb that his son came home on leave, during which time he described his life in the Navy and informed May and his wife that he has been ordered to Cairo, Illinois. May says that the North must follow God's law before it can win. He complains of Abraham Lincoln's adherence to the Constitution.
