Lincoln home is open to public, Springfield D.A.R. give brilliant event, memories of times when North and South vied are recalled at elaborate function in old homestead at Eighth and Jackson Streets, scenes of martyr's day are revived.
Colored people feast, gathering held at St. Paul's A.M.E. Church to honor Lincoln.
Women share in celebrating day, local chapter D.A.R. give banquet for visitors, brilliant affair held at new Y.M.C.A. building and is attended by many, decorating scheme used attractive in every detail, addresses eulogizing Lincoln interesting.
[Booker T.] Washington speaks, well known colored orator addresses club, tells of scene in mother's cabin where she prayed for martyr.
Services simple at old landmark, impressive ceremonies held at historical church, pomp and splendor absent from exercises given at St. John's German Lutheran edifice, Rev. T.D. Logan addresses gathering on "Lincoln as worshiper," martyred president's family pew is draped for occasion and ancient pulpit is used for day.
Veterans guard relics at tomb, members of G.A.R. honor martyred president.
