Edition Notes
Translation, by Johann Georg Krünitz, of: Description et histoire naturelle du Groenland, first printed in Copenhagen and Geneva, 1763, which is itself a translation, by Jean Baptiste Des Roches de Parthenay, of: Det gamle Grønlands nye perlustration, eller, Naturel-historie, printed in Copenhagen, 1741, but which first appeared in a pirated edition in Copenhagen, 1729.
A Greenlandic song, composed by Frederick Christian, p. 173-180, is without music and gives a description of the performance.
"Norwegische Wörter in der Grönländischen Sprache", p. 180-193, gives a small glossary of Kalâtdlisut dialect words as well as a discussion of grammar; the three articles of faith and the Lord's prayer are also translated into the Greenlandic language.
