Holograph, signed.

On pages 1-2 of this manuscript, is the poem "Union of the old & new world," by John Bowring, London, 26 September 1841. 30 Lines. Poem appeared in the Liberty Bell, 1842.

On page 3 of this manuscript, there is a brief, complementary letter by John Bowring to Maria Weston Chapman, London, September 27, 1841.

Also included is a portrait of John Bowring, engraved by W. Holl, from a painting by B. E. Duppal, London, John Saunders Jun'r 7 Dyers Buildings, Holborn Bars.

There is another portrait entitled "The Late Sir John Bowring."
