The subject of this paper is the buckling behavior of a rectangular plate, with parallel thin-walled stiffeners attached to one side, subjected to a combination of axial compression, lateral pressure, and bending moment. The plate is modeled by the Von Karman plate equations and the stiffeners by a nonlinear beam theory recently derived. An analytical solution is obtained for the buckling load corresponding to a torsional tripping mode of the stiffeners.
