DC BD 4 - Bookplate of The University of Chicago Libraries on front endpaper of each volume, with a stamp across them stating that the book is no longer the library's property. Punched stamp on title page of each volume with the cancellation stamp on the verso. Stamp 'James Hall Collection' and embossed stamp 'Library of James Hall' on title page of each volume. The embossed stamp in Vol. 1 has the cancellation stamp on the verso. Vols. 1 and 2 are stamped 'Gen. Lib.' on front endpaper. Each volume is stamped with an accession number on the page following the title page. All the plates are stamped 'The University of Chicago Libraries'.

DC BD 4 - Original bluish green ribbed grain cloth. Covers blocked in blind. Spines blocked in blind and gilt. Recased, rebacked and original backstrips laid-down. Hinges repaired. Spine to volume 2 has the word Zoology newly supplied in gilt.
