Edition Notes

Holograph, signed with initials.

Maria Weston Chapman writes that her sister, Dora [a nickname for Debora Weston], is "making a H. M. Review - book." [H.M. is perhaps a reference to Harriet Martineau.] Chapman accuses Blackwood's Magazine of Toryism. She criticizes "The Spectator." She discusses Harriet Martineau's difficulties with Dr. Greenwood and James Martineau(?). She protests against the attack on Miss Martineau by the two aforementioned magazines. She talks about her own critical work.
