Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Samuel Joseph May encloses a contribution of $10. He sent his cousin Ade(?) May a volume of engravings received through Mrs. William Robson of Warrington, [England], from some woman from that town. Samuel J. May declares his conviction that for the purification of the American church and the honor of the republic, it is necessary to get utterly rid of slavery. Samuel J. May is involved in the "prosecution" of Dr. William Brown "for denouncing him as an impostor and a dishonest man."
