Samuel Joseph May asks for the return of an article, "The Emblem of Our Country, etc.," which he sent to Maria Weston Chapman last November. This article "may answer for one of our papers--- ..." May declares: "I am utterly ashamed of my country, and hesitate not to say so privately and publicly." He praises the Liberty Bell.
