Abby Osgood was delighted with Deborah Weston's letter. Abby Osgood welcomes Deborah Weston to her house. Osgood explains certain previous references and recounts at length a misunderstanding with Mr. Beane of New Bedford relating to the termination of Abby Osgood's position as teacher in Mr. Beane's school. Osgood comments: "Oh Debora[h], he was wrong, I do think---but I am truly sorry for them---How little did I imagine, when we were such friends with the Beanes that there would ever be such a termination to the friendship--- ..."
