Through carelessness, the box of merchandise for the Boston Anti-Slavery Fair was not shipped on time. Jane Wigham wants an account of the fair. She says that George Thompson would like to return to America, but he is engaged with the case of the Rajah of Saltash. Jane Wigham mentions sales "for the relief of our starving population." The titled purchasers at this sale would not contribute anything to critics of the Free Church. Jane Wigham does not "approve of private letters being printed" in the Liberator and the Standard especially with the Scottish abolitionist writers' names given in full. Jane Wigham identifies Eliza Wigham as her husband's daughter. Eliza Nicholson is identified as the sister of Sarah Wigham, who is the wife of John Wigham, Jr. Jane Wigham, the author of this letter, is also known as Mrs. John Wigham III. Frederick Douglass wrote to Dr. Cox just before he left. Henry C. Wright is much concerned about the Dublin Relief Committee getting contributions from slaveholders. Eliza Burritt is now in Scotland.
