Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Helen L. Thoreau writes that the proceeds of their little sale amounted to sixty-five dollars, of which twenty-four dollars are enclosed, as they were received for Maria Weston Chapman's articles. The Concord anti-slavery society also sends twenty dollars for the "Western mission." Helen L. Thoreau remarks that Maria Weston Chapman did not give her opinion in the Liberator regarding David L. Child's editorial, "Where We Are."

A reprint of David Lee Child's article, "Where We Are," from the National Anti-Slavery Standard, appeared in the Liberator, Sept. 1, 1843.
