In this letter, Maria Weston Chapman writes: "I asked Mr. Atkinson if he would be disengaged, & willing to discuss the proposition of cooperating with you ..." The proposition mentioned, may have been connected with an anti-slavery fair in New Bedford. The meaning is not clear.
