Edition Notes

Holograph, signed with initials.

Deborah Weston tells about peddling the "fair articles" brought from Boston, and receiving $28 for them. The New Bedford fair was attended by the "fashionables." John A. Collins came to New Bedford to raise money, and has been very successful. Andrew Robeson gave him $100. Deborah is anxious about "the annuity," but delighted with news from the Boston fair. Referring to the fear of smallpox in Weymouth, Deborah says that she is living in the midst of it. She elaborates on the topic: "A vile place called Dog Corner, very near us is the headquarters of the contagion." Deborah was re-vaccinated today. [George] Bradburn's lectures were called very good, and "abolition is in most excellent odour here."
