Washington requests that Parker, who superintended the evacuation of the British from New York City following the Revolutionary War, do what he can to ensure that the British do not "[convey] off any Negroes or other property of the inhabitants of the United States", including, most particularly, Washington's slaves and those of his cousin and farm manager Lund Washington.
