Edition Notes

Information for this book was gathered and written by the Mendon History Committee.

"When the Mendon History Committee first met to discuss this book, we decided we would not attempt to chronologically write Mendon's history. Pioneer Isaac Sorensen did a marvelous job of that for his entire adult life in Mendon, and his writings 'History of Mendon' was previously published. Rather, we felt that if we brought together some of the accounts from various past and present writers and arranged them topically, it would preserve a valuable record and collectively give a glimpse of what Mendon's history has been. We also included a chapter on Petersboro, which for many years has been knit closely with Mendon. Though distinct in many ways, Petersboro and Mendon have shared many common ties over the years, and the greater Mendon area today includes not just the incorporated Mendon town but also the surrounding Cobblestone, Petersboro, and unincorporated areas close to Mendon."--Pref.
