This research effort examines decisionmaking involving technology acquisition in large organizations. Senior managers manage a considerable amount of resources. Many of these resources are committed by senior managers to technology and the technology acquisition process. Resource constraints dictate that senior managers commit resources to technologies that ensure an organization's ability to remain relevant as a manufacturer or service provider. Senior managers are responsible for the decisions that ensure effective employment of limited resources. A clearer understanding of the decision making process and the models available to decision makers will potentially assist other senior managers in making decisions related to technology acquisition.
