A curious little book about the 'Affair of the Necklace' which contributed to the downfall of the French monarchy at the time of the revolution of 1789. Unlike many accounts both prior to and after its publication, the book points a finger at the complicity of Marie Antoinette in the whole business. As many passages quoted by the author are in French it is helpful for the reader to be able to understand that language.
