The present volume assembles papers on various aspects of Celtic studies written in honour of Erich Poppe’s sixtieth birthday in July 2011. As heterogeneous as the articles in this volume may seem, two similarities are shared by all of them. First, all authors were taught by Erich Poppe while studying in Marburg and not few of the authors’ undergraduate theses were supervised by him. Second, all articles treat of topics which are part of the honorand’s research interests, which lie mainly in Celtic linguistics and the textual cultures of medieval Ireland and Wales but which also always included ‘modern’ topics.
