General order (1861 November 28; U.S.S. Savannah, near Tybee Island, Ga.) from John S. Missroon, senior officer, concerning the hoisting and lowering of the U.S. flag on the island; petition (1862 January 2) from fifteen seamen aboard the U.S.S. Augusta, South Atlantic Blockading Squadron, addressed to Lieut. Henry L. Howison, executive officer, requesting that he lead an expedition to capture and destroy Confederate schooners operating along the southeastern coast; ALS (1862 August 2; Newport, R.I.) from Samuel Blatchford to Clarence A. Seward relating chiefly to the progress of the Civil War; and order (1864 August 14; New Orleans, La.) of Maj. Gen. Edward Richard Sprigg Canby concerning delivery of Confederate prisoners of war on board the U.S.S. Bienville and U.S.S. Tennessee, side-wheel steamers.
