Edition Notes

In several parts, presumably issued consecutively, some with individual t. p.s.

Editor: "Simon Search" is a pseudonym.

Title page of part [1] includes vignette showing a magnifying glass on a pedestal focusing light on its own mirrored reflection.

Title proper repeated as caption in each part.

Cover is also t.p.

Some parts are further divided into "Letter I" and "Letter II."

John Adams Library has no. II, no. III, and no. VIII.

Issues published in 1790 have "Politics" on the title page; the first issue of 1791, part [9], includes the word "Literature"; some issues have only caption titles.

"The nation, the law, and the king! To the members of the Revolution society ... Simon Search ... wishes health and happiness ... London, November 1790": 12 p., between p. 194 and [195], with its own t.p. and separate signatures, but apparently an integral part of the book, since the catchword on p. 194 "to" presumably refers to the sub-title "To the members of the Revolution Society."

John Adams Library copy has bookplate: John Adams Library, in the Custody of the Boston Public Library.

Includes bibliographical references.
