One of today’s most recognizable characters, Tarzan got his start in the pages of a fifteen-cent pulp magazine. The October 1912 issue of All-Story magazine printed “Tarzan of the Apes – A Romance of the Jungle” in its entirety – an unprecedented move since stories were normally serialized – and readers couldn’t get enough of the story about an orphan boy raised by apes in Africa.
