This book has been published in English, French (La Déesse qui devint Fleuve - Gallimard Jeunesse, Paris, 1993), Dutch ( Een Godin Wordt Een Rivier -Zwijsen, Hollande 1994) and German (Die Göttin, die sich in einen Fluss verwandelt -Kaufmann-Klett, Allemagne 1994).
The author Vijay Singh is a well-known writer, film-maker and screenplay writer living in Paris, France. Some of his other works are the books Jaya Ganga, In Search of the River Goddess (also published in French as "Jaya Ganga, Le Gange et son Double", Ramsay) , Whirlpool of Shadows (Jonathan Cape, also published in French as "Tourbillon d'ombres", Ramsay) and La Nuit Poignardée (Flammarion), and the films One Dollar Curry and Jaya Ganga (Jaya, Fille du Gange).
