Nick's world is an exclusive but fascinating arena populated by Bookers, Dromes, Donuts, Civilians, Snappers, 4B Girls, Guy, and, of course, Thing - a world of fast-food romance, delicious sex, vicious grunge rock, and mind-boggling glamour. There's a drug involved, too, and it's called hotness. It's Nick Laws's obsession, and he's not in denial about it. The Shallow Man is his confession.
