The cutoff was a shortcut the early wagon-trains took whikle going from the Oregon Trail to the California trail. Hudspeth was the wagonmaster and the first to use the cutoff route. Diearies of the members of the party are analyzed and quoted.. What it is is an original description of the lay of the land in 1849. It is in manuscript format.
