This is the journal from 1850 until his death in the mid 1880s of Augustus Benners of Greensboro, Alabama. He was a lawyer, planter and legislator. The entries tell of life in western Alabama during the Antebellum, war period and Reconstruction from the viewpoint of a well to do man. His family troubles and good times are all there. It is a very interesting look at life in Alabama during those periods.
